The intent of the PSHE curriculum at Regents Park is to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and ensures that each of our pupils will know more, remember more and understand more about how to play a positive and successful role within society, both as a young person and as an adult in the future.  Our aim is to provide pupils with a knowledge of their world, locally, nationally and globally and give them confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.  We aim to provide our children with opportunities for them to learn relevant and relatable issues for their respective year group, covering interpersonal skills, finances, relationships, mental wellbeing amongst others and incorporating national changes in as part of statutory Sexual and Relationship Education 2020.  Moreover, our pupils are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive roles in contributing to school life and the wider community.  We challenge all of our pupils to look for opportunities to show the school values Respect, Pride, Challenge and Creativity and seek leadership opportunities within the school gates and their local community.


PSHE is delivered in a variety of ways that reflect the different topics and needs of the cohort.  We make use of focused days throughout the year where students are taken off their normal timetable and sessions are delivered by both Regents Park staff and external expert providers.  These are organised in tutor groups, giving students the chance to receive information and also discuss and reflect on sometimes sensitive issues with the support of a familiar member of our staff.  On a weekly basis there are activities that each tutor group covers during their morning tutor time.  Supporting assemblies build on the content from tutor time and are delivered by members of our Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Year or other specialists both internal and external.  The PSHE Curriculum is continually under review to reflect national and local issues and also to address the standards which come in to play from 2020 onwards.  Where relevant, additional sessions for targeted intervention/year groups are scheduled to respond to the needs of our students in our context.


Feedback is gathered from student groups as to what has been successful and has had the most impact.  This can be gathered from Student Council and via Heads of Year.  A tracking document logs individual student knowledge so that interventions can be put in place where there are knowledge gaps.  An audit of the topics covered is also part of the review process.  The PSHE Subject Leader meets regularly with the Senior Leadership link and also present to the senior leadership team.
