Student Mental Health & Counselling Service

ABout the counsellor

My name is Carolyn and I'm the Counsellor here at Regents Park Community College.

I've been working in education for approximately 10 years, mainly focusing on behaviour and mental health with children ranging from 5 to 16 years old.  A few years ago, I decided that I wanted to focus on children's mental health and so started on the pathway to becoming a fully qualified counsellor, completing a BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy here in Southampton.

During my years of training, I worked for charities that specialised in areas such as bereavement and domestic violence, however, the majority of my placement hours were completed here at RPCC.  It was during my time here that it became apparent how dedicated the school were to offering a counselling and mental health service to their students.  It was also during this time that I realised that RPCC, with our amazing young people, was where I wanted to further my career within this challenging, yet incredibly rewarding profession.

As a counsellor, I'm extremely proud to be a part of the community here, working alongside an amazing team who are committed to providing a service to the students which allows them to feel supported, heard and understood throughout every step of their journey at RPCC.
