This exciting and innovative department has embraced the new changes within ICT teaching and now offers the opportunity to study Computer Science as well as driving forward digital literacy at Regents Park Community College. To accommodate these new changes, the department has seen the introduction of coding and programming skills in Python taught across Key Stage 3 and 4.
The curriculum at Key Stage 3 offers students a balance between the digital literacy skills they need for working with software and hardware, and the necessary understanding of Computer Science and computational thinking. Embedded into the course is the teaching of e-safety, where students are taught how to stay safe online as well as being educated about cyberbullying.
At Key Stage 3 students cover a range of key topics in digital literacy and programming skills and work towards achieving a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum award.
At Key Stage 4 students are currently offered a GCSE qualification in Computer Science and a level 2 qualification in OCR iMedia. Results are consistently better than national and students make excellent progress within their chosen subject.
