
In Years 10 and 11 students may opt to study Media at GCSE level. The course is made up of the following modules;
Examination is by a combination of written coursework, a controlled test and a practical project. The coursework component will be completed by the end of Year 10, but in Year 11 students will embark on a long term practical project, which involves independent research and learning, and requires a degree of professional finish. Links with outside agencies such as newspapers, radio stations and magazines will be made available.
The range of modules covered allows considerable variety in both teaching and learning styles. Work will be knowledge based and factual, independent and investigative, or practical and creative, and enables pupils to build on their awareness of popular cultural forms whilst developing their critical and analytical skills.
